Physical Description ================ Emil is of average build, but has a few striking features that makes him stand out from fellow humans -- namely the copperish tint of his skin (from his draconic scales) and a left eye that appears red and reptilian, while his right is a more normal-looking green. Personality ========= Serious to a fault. Does not jest or laugh at jests made. He is focused on his mission, which is nothing more or less than the eradication of the enemies of free folk. He's smart enough to know that the mission is impossible, and yet he won't settle for anything less. Emil is not interested in fame or glory. Riches are not desired for their own sake, but rather for how they make him a more effective crusader. He has no concern for how the free folk rule themselves -- it is a bit hypocritical, by he would turn a blind eye toward a cruel, tyrannical despot while working to wipe out a nearby enclave of "monsters" who keep mostly to themselves. Background ========= Emil first thought he was simply a toy of fate, both unlucky in that he always seemed to wind up in places that were under assault from monsters of one type or another, while simultaneously being lucky to survive them all. Starting with his home village, which was destroyed by marauding orcs and goblins. He was one of the survivors -- and the only one of his family -- but rather than stay to rebuild, he chose to seek his fortune elsewhere. But "elsewhere" turned out to be much of the same. Communities of men, dwarves, elves, and the like always under assault from the outside, from one form of monster to another -- dragons, giants, lizardmen, the walking dead, you name it. Sometimes he found the aftermath, other times he was caught up in it, managing to survive in a combination of luck and his highly unusual endurance. Somewhere along the line he decided it wasn't just his unluck in running across these areas under attack , it was endemic. The free folk as a whole were simply under constant threat of destruction. And Emil vowed to change that. The stress and trials he survived awakened a previously-unsuspected draconic bloodline, and he found himself able to employ several dragon-like abilities. At first, this worried him; after all, dragons are monsters too. But as his abilities matured, he found his descent was from a metallic dragon (copper, to be exact), and after all, some dragons were of good nature, and even defended and protected the free folk. Besides, what better way to fight monsters than to use their own weapons against them? Emil wasn't strong or proficient with arms, but he was tough. He was smart. He could study his enemies and exploit their weaknesses. And with that, he set about on his quest to eradicate the monsters.
